Pangarchulla Peak is a thrilling high-altitude summit trek located in the Garhwal Himalayas of Uttarakhand. The trail takes you through charming mountain villages like Karchi, dense oak and rhododendron forests, vast alpine meadows around Khullara, and snow-covered ridges leading to Kuari Pass. Detailed Itinerary
Day 01: Rishikesh → Karchi
- Drive Distance: ~255 km
- Drive Duration: ~11 hours
- Pick-up Point: Rishikesh (Tapovan)
- Pick-up Time: 6:00 am
- Stay: Local guest house / homestay
The journey begins early morning with a pickup from Rishikesh Tapovan at 6:00 AM. Drive through scenic mountain roads along the Alaknanda River, passing picturesque towns like Devprayag, Rudraprayag, and Chamoli.
As the altitude gradually increases, enjoy beautiful views of terraced fields, dense forests, and traditional Garhwali villages. By late evening, arrive at Karchi Village, the base village for the Pangarchulla Peak trek.
After check-in at a local guest house or homestay, freshen up and relax. The evening is kept light to allow proper acclimatisation. You can take a short walk around the village, interact with locals, and soak in the peaceful Himalayan surroundings.

Day 02: Karchi → Khullara

- Trek Duration: ~5–6 hours
- Trail: Forests & alpine meadows
- Camp: Near Kuari Pass Base Camp (Khullara)
After an early breakfast at Karchi, begin the ascent towards Khullara. The trail passes through beautiful forests of
pine, golden oak, and hazelnut trees, opening occasionally into lush alpine meadows.
The gradual climb offers refreshing mountain air and scenic landscapes throughout the trek. A packed lunch
will be served on the trail at a scenic location.
By late afternoon, reach the campsite near Kuari Pass base camp. From the campsite, enjoy stunning views of the
majestic Garhwal Himalayan peaks including Mt. Dronagiri (7,066 m), Hathi-Ghoda, Kamet (India’s
second-highest peak), Mana Peak, and several other snow-covered summits.
Spend the evening relaxing at the campsite, followed by dinner under the stars.

Overnight Stay: Campsite (Khullara)
Day 03: Khullara → Kuari Pass → Khullara
- Trek Distance: ~6–7 km
- Trek Duration: ~5–6 hours
- Camp: Kuari Pass Base Camp (Khullara)
- Purpose: Acclimatisation Day
After an early breakfast, begin the ascent from Khullara towards the legendary Kuari Pass, following
the historic Lord Curzon trail. The route passes through vast alpine meadows and open ridgelines, offering
spectacular panoramic views.
From Kuari Pass, enjoy a stunning 180° view of the Greater Himalayas. The trail offers breathtaking views of
majestic Garhwal Himalayan peaks including Mt. Neelkanth, Chaukhamba, Kamet (India’s second-highest
peak), Mana Peak, and several other snow-clad summits.
After soaking in the views, descend back to Khullara. A hot lunch will be served upon arrival at the
campsite.
The rest of the day is reserved for acclimatisation. Spend the evening relaxing at camp and enjoy a beautiful
Himalayan sunset before dinner.

Day 04: Khullara → Pangarchulla Peak → Khullara (Summit Day)
- Early Start: Pre-dawn summit push (around 1:00 AM)
- Trek Distance: ~7 km (approx. 6.5 km ascent to summit & 6.5 km descent)
- Trek Duration: ~7–8 hours
- Camp: Khullara Base Camp
This is the most challenging and rewarding day of the trek. The day begins with a pre-dawn start around 1:00 AM,
as we begin the steep ascent towards Pangarchulla Peak via the Kuari Pass route.
Trekking under a star-lit sky, the trail gradually transitions into snow-covered ridges and steep sections, offering
a true high-altitude mountaineering experience.
Upon reaching the summit, witness a breathtaking panorama of the Greater Himalayas with views of more than
108 Himalayan peaks, including iconic summits such as Nanda Devi, Dronagiri, and Kamet.
The sense of achievement and the stunning vistas make this summit climb truly unforgettable.
After spending some time at the summit, begin the descent back to Khullara Base Camp. Lunch will be served at
the campsite upon return.
The remainder of the day is reserved for rest and relaxation. Enjoy the peaceful mountain evening and celebrate
the successful summit attempt.

Day 05: Khullara → Karchi
- Trek Distance: ~5–6 km
- Trek Duration: ~4–5 hours
- Trail: Forests & meadows (descent)
- Stay: Local guest house / homestay
After breakfast, begin the descent from Khullara to Karchi. The return trek follows scenic forest trails
through lush meadows and dense oak and pine forests, offering a relaxed and enjoyable walk.
The gradual downhill trek allows time to soak in the natural beauty and reflect on the summit achievement. By early
afternoon, arrive back at Karchi Village.
After check-in and lunch, the rest of the day is kept free for rest and relaxation. In the evening, take a
short village walk, interact with locals, and experience the traditional Garhwali lifestyle.

Day 06: Karchi → Rishikesh
- Drive Distance: ~255 km
- Drive Duration: ~9–10 hours
- Drop-off Point: Rishikesh
After an early breakfast, begin the return drive from Karchi to Rishikesh. The journey retraces the
scenic mountain roads through the Garhwal region, offering final glimpses of rivers, valleys, and Himalayan
landscapes.
Enjoy breaks along the way for refreshments and photo stops. By late evening, arrive in Rishikesh where the
trek officially concludes.

Cancellation & Refund Policy
Change/Cancellation of Booking by the Participant
Process
The cancellation process is completely automated. Please log in to your Mountain Hike account and follow the instructions on your dashboard. You can choose between Instant Refund or Cash Refund as per the policy below.
Replacement of Participants
Participants can be replaced through the India Treks dashboard if the booking status is “Paid” and at least 5 days remain before departure. If you face issues, email info@indiatreks.co.in with a screenshot of the error. The new participant must submit a signed undertaking form.
Note: Any Volvo/Train transport booked for the original participant will be automatically canceled and is non-transferable.
Cash Refund Policy
Cash refunds apply only for bookings made without promotional codes or vouchers. Refund amounts will be deducted as follows:
- 30+ days before departure: 5% deduction
- 15-30 days before departure: 50% deduction
- Less than 15 days before departure: No Refund
Refunds will be processed to the original payment method and are based on the Base Price of the trek, excluding transport, insurance, and portage fees.
Voucher Refund Policy
Voucher refunds are available for all types of bookings, including promotional offers. Refund amounts will be:
- 5+ days before departure: No deduction
- Less than 5 days: No Refund
Vouchers are valid for 10 months from the date of issue. The refunded voucher amount does not include service tax paid during the original booking.
Cancellation or Change Initiated by India Treks
We reserve the right to modify or cancel an event due to unforeseen circumstances such as weather conditions, natural disasters, low participation, or any force majeure events. If this occurs, you will be given the choice of:
- A replacement event of equivalent value
- A full refund (processed as a voucher valid for 6 months)
If cancellation is due to low participation, participants can choose between a cash refund or a voucher.
Changes/Cancellation After Departure
Due to Force Majeure
No refund will be provided for cancellations due to force majeure after departure.
Other Reasons
If cancellations occur for reasons other than force majeure, we will attempt to arrange alternative services or provide a refund in the form of a 6-month voucher (or cash, if preferred).
Participant Dropout During the Event
No refund will be provided if a participant voluntarily drops out of the trek. Any additional costs incurred for return arrangements will be borne by the participant.
Early Return from an Event
If a participant returns early due to force majeure or an event ending sooner than planned, additional expenses (extra nights, transport) must be covered by the participant.
Emergency Evacuation
In case of a medical emergency, we will arrange evacuation to the nearest hospital. Any costs for porters, vehicles, ambulance services, or hospitalization must be covered by the participant.
