Trek Overview
The Sar Pass Trek is one of the most popular high-altitude treks in Himachal Pradesh, starting from the scenic town of Kasol in the Parvati Valley. Known for its dramatic landscapes, snow-covered trails, dense pine forests, alpine meadows, and thrilling snow slides, the trek offers an unforgettable Himalayan adventure. The highlight of the trek is crossing the Sar Pass summit at an altitude of around 13,800 ft, where trekkers are rewarded with breathtaking views of snow-clad peaks and vast valleys below. Suitable for fit beginners and experienced trekkers alike, the Sar Pass Trek is best undertaken between May and June, when snow conditions are ideal and the trail is at its most beautiful.
Detailed Itinerary
Day 01: Arrival at Kasol & Trek to Grahan Village
Arrive at Kasol by morning. After a briefing, begin the trek towards Grahan Village through dense pine forests and scenic trails alongside the Grahan Nallah.
Trek distance: 5 km | Trek time: 4–5 hours | Altitude: 7,700 ft
Overnight stay: guesthouse / homestay (twin / triple sharing)
Day 02: Grahan Village to Min Thach
Trek from Grahan Village to Min Thach, an open alpine meadow surrounded by snow-capped peaks. The trail gradually ascends through forests and meadows.
Trek distance: 8 km | Trek time: 6–7 hours | Altitude: 11,150 ft
Overnight stay: camp (twin / triple sharing)
Day 03: Min Thach to Nagaru
Today’s trek takes you higher into the alpine region as you move towards Nagaru campsite. Expect steep climbs and spectacular views of the Parvati Valley.
Trek distance: 6 km | Trek time: 5–6 hours | Altitude: 12,500 ft
Overnight stay: camp (twin / triple sharing)
Day 04: Nagaru to Sar Pass Summit & Trek to Biskeri Thach
Start early for the summit push to Sar Pass. After reaching the summit and enjoying panoramic views, descend towards Biskeri Thach, including the famous snow slide section.
Trek distance: 12 km | Trek time: 8–9 hours | Summit altitude: 13,800 ft
Overnight stay: camp (twin / triple sharing)
Day 05: Biskeri Thach to Barshaini & Departure
Trek down through forests and villages to Barshaini, marking the end of the trek. Drive back to Kasol with unforgettable memories of the Sar Pass adventure.

- Accommodation: Hotel stay at Joshimath Twin/Triple sharing- Tent stay on twin sharing basis
- Food: All meals provided breakfast, packed lunch, day pack, tea/coffee, snacks, soup, and dinner.
- Permits & Fees: Covers forest permit and entrance fees for the entire trek.
- Camping Equipment: Includes dome tents, sleeping bags, mattress, liner, pillow, toilet tents, dining tent, table, and stools.
- Kitchen & Staff: A dedicated kitchen team handles all cooking and food preparation.
- Trekking Staff & Support: Experienced local guides and porters accompany and support you throughout.
- Communication & Safety: Equipped with radio walkie-talkies, medical kit, oximeter and oxygen cylinders.
- Technical & Safety Gear: Includes crampons, gaiters, ice axe, carabiners, sit harness, and other essential safety gear.
Exclusions:
- Personal Insurance, toiletries, and personal medical kit are not included. Please bring your own.
- Meals not included: Day 1 – breakfast & lunch, Last day – lunch & dinner.
- Porters costs will be extra per bag per day Rs. 400.00 pay Directly our base Slope manager.
- Foreign nationals must pay an extra ₹1600 for a permit – passport and visa are required.
- Trek permit: Aadhar card and Medical Certificate are necessary for Indian people.
Cancellation & Refund Policy
Change/Cancellation of Booking by the Participant
Process
The cancellation process is completely automated. Please log in to your Mountain Hike account and follow the instructions on your dashboard. You can choose between Instant Refund or Cash Refund as per the policy below.
Replacement of Participants
Participants can be replaced through the India Treks dashboard if the booking status is “Paid” and at least 5 days remain before departure. If you face issues, email info@indiatreks.co.in with a screenshot of the error. The new participant must submit a signed undertaking form.
Note: Any Volvo/Train transport booked for the original participant will be automatically canceled and is non-transferable.
Cash Refund Policy
Cash refunds apply only for bookings made without promotional codes or vouchers. Refund amounts will be deducted as follows:
- 30+ days before departure: 5% deduction
- 15-30 days before departure: 50% deduction
- Less than 15 days before departure: No Refund
Refunds will be processed to the original payment method and are based on the Base Price of the trek, excluding transport, insurance, and portage fees.
Voucher Refund Policy
Voucher refunds are available for all types of bookings, including promotional offers. Refund amounts will be:
- 5+ days before departure: No deduction
- Less than 5 days: No Refund
Vouchers are valid for 10 months from the date of issue. The refunded voucher amount does not include service tax paid during the original booking.
Cancellation or Change Initiated by India Treks
We reserve the right to modify or cancel an event due to unforeseen circumstances such as weather conditions, natural disasters, low participation, or any force majeure events. If this occurs, you will be given the choice of:
- A replacement event of equivalent value
- A full refund (processed as a voucher valid for 6 months)
If cancellation is due to low participation, participants can choose between a cash refund or a voucher.
Changes/Cancellation After Departure
Due to Force Majeure
No refund will be provided for cancellations due to force majeure after departure.
Other Reasons
If cancellations occur for reasons other than force majeure, we will attempt to arrange alternative services or provide a refund in the form of a 6-month voucher (or cash, if preferred).
Participant Dropout During the Event
No refund will be provided if a participant voluntarily drops out of the trek. Any additional costs incurred for return arrangements will be borne by the participant.
Early Return from an Event
If a participant returns early due to force majeure or an event ending sooner than planned, additional expenses (extra nights, transport) must be covered by the participant.
Emergency Evacuation
In case of a medical emergency, we will arrange evacuation to the nearest hospital. Any costs for porters, vehicles, ambulance services, or hospitalization must be covered by the participant.
