Trek Overview

The Auli Chopta Trek is a perfect blend of Himalayan trekking, spiritual trails, and alpine meadows. Starting from Rishikesh, the journey takes you through the scenic towns of Joshimath and Auli, followed by the pristine forests of Chopta, often called the Mini Switzerland of Uttarakhand. The highlight of the trek is the ascent to Tungnath, the highest Shiva temple in the world, and further to Chandrashila Peak, offering breathtaking 360° views of Himalayan giants like Nanda Devi, Trishul, Chaukhamba, and Kedarnath range. The trek concludes with a visit to Deoriatal Lake, famous for its crystal-clear reflections of the Chaukhamba peaks. Suitable for beginners and experienced trekkers alike, this trek offers a perfect mix of adventure, culture, and natural beauty across all seasons.

Detailed Itinerary

Day 01: Rishikesh to Joshimath

  • On arrival at Rishikesh, continue your journey towards Joshimath.
  • En route, halt at Devprayag Sangam, the confluence of Alaknanda and Bhagirathi rivers.
  • Reach Joshimath by evening, the base town for Auli.
  • Check in to your hotel.
  • Freshen up and visit the Narsingh Temple.
  • Overnight stay at Joshimath.

Day 02: Joshimath – Auli – Chopta

  • After breakfast at 7:00 a.m., check out from the hotel and proceed to Auli (approx. 1-hour drive).
  • Explore Auli Meadows and enjoy panoramic Himalayan views.
  • Take the Auli Ropeway (Cable Car) for breathtaking views of snow-clad peaks.
  • Enjoy optional snow activities (seasonal).
  • Return to Joshimath by 1:00 p.m. for lunch.
  • Depart at 2:00 p.m. for Chopta (approx. 4–5 hours drive).
  • Check in to camps/tents at Chopta.
  • Dinner and overnight stay at Chopta.

Day 03: Chopta – Tungnath – Chandrashila to Sari

  • Early breakfast at 7:00 a.m.
  • Start the trek to Tungnath Temple, the highest Shiva temple in the world.
  • Continue the ascent to Chandrashila Peak for spectacular 360° Himalayan views.
  • Descend back to Chopta after the trek.
  • Drive to Sari Village.
  • Check in to your accommodation in Sari.
  • Dinner and overnight stay.

Day 04: Deoriatal – Rishikesh

  • Wake up early at 6:00 a.m.
  • Breakfast at 7:00 a.m.
  • Begin your 2 km trek to Deoriatal Lake from Sari village.
  • Enjoy serene views and reflections of the Chaukhamba Peaks.
  • Descend back to Sari by 9:00 a.m.
  • Refresh and check out by 10:00 a.m.
  • Start return journey to Rishikesh (approx. 8–9 hours drive).
  • En route halt at Dhari Devi Temple on the Alaknanda River.
  • Reach Rishikesh by 6:00 p.m.

Inclusion / Exclusion

Inclusions:

  • Transportation: Includes pickup and drop from Dehradun to Dehradun with Non AC Tempo Traveller
  • Accommodation: Hotel stay at Joshimath Twin/Triple sharing- Tent stay on twin sharing basis
  • Food: All meals provided breakfast, packed lunch, day pack, tea/coffee, snacks, soup, and dinner.
  • Permits & Fees: Covers forest permit and entrance fees for the entire trek.
  • Camping Equipment: Includes dome tents, sleeping bags, mattress, liner, pillow, toilet tents, dining tent, table, and stools.
  • Kitchen & Staff: A dedicated kitchen team handles all cooking and food preparation.
  • Trekking Staff & Support: Experienced local guides and porters accompany and support you throughout.
  • Communication & Safety: Equipped with radio walkie-talkies, medical kit, oximeter and oxygen cylinders.
  • Technical & Safety Gear: Includes crampons, gaiters, ice axe, carabiners, sit harness, and other essential safety gear.

Exclusions:

  • Personal Insurance, toiletries, and personal medical kit are not included. Please bring your own.
  • Meals not included: Day 1 – breakfast & lunch, Last day – lunch & dinner.
  • Porters costs will be extra per bag per day Rs. 400.00 pay Directly our base Slope manager.
  • Foreign nationals must pay an extra ₹1600 for a permit – passport and visa are required.
  • Trek permit: Aadhar card and Medical Certificate are necessary for Indian people.

Cancellation & Refund Policy

Change/Cancellation of Booking by the Participant

Process

The cancellation process is completely automated. Please log in to your Mountain Hike account and follow the instructions on your dashboard. You can choose between Instant Refund or Cash Refund as per the policy below.

Replacement of Participants

Participants can be replaced through the India Treks dashboard if the booking status is “Paid” and at least 5 days remain before departure. If you face issues, email info@indiatreks.co.in with a screenshot of the error. The new participant must submit a signed undertaking form.

Note: Any Volvo/Train transport booked for the original participant will be automatically canceled and is non-transferable.

Cash Refund Policy

Cash refunds apply only for bookings made without promotional codes or vouchers. Refund amounts will be deducted as follows:

  • 30+ days before departure: 5% deduction
  • 15-30 days before departure: 50% deduction
  • Less than 15 days before departure: No Refund

Refunds will be processed to the original payment method and are based on the Base Price of the trek, excluding transport, insurance, and portage fees.

Voucher Refund Policy

Voucher refunds are available for all types of bookings, including promotional offers. Refund amounts will be:

  • 5+ days before departure: No deduction
  • Less than 5 days: No Refund

Vouchers are valid for 10 months from the date of issue. The refunded voucher amount does not include service tax paid during the original booking.

Cancellation or Change Initiated by India Treks

We reserve the right to modify or cancel an event due to unforeseen circumstances such as weather conditions, natural disasters, low participation, or any force majeure events. If this occurs, you will be given the choice of:

  • A replacement event of equivalent value
  • A full refund (processed as a voucher valid for 6 months)

If cancellation is due to low participation, participants can choose between a cash refund or a voucher.

Changes/Cancellation After Departure

Due to Force Majeure

No refund will be provided for cancellations due to force majeure after departure.

Other Reasons

If cancellations occur for reasons other than force majeure, we will attempt to arrange alternative services or provide a refund in the form of a 6-month voucher (or cash, if preferred).

Participant Dropout During the Event

No refund will be provided if a participant voluntarily drops out of the trek. Any additional costs incurred for return arrangements will be borne by the participant.

Early Return from an Event

If a participant returns early due to force majeure or an event ending sooner than planned, additional expenses (extra nights, transport) must be covered by the participant.

Emergency Evacuation

In case of a medical emergency, we will arrange evacuation to the nearest hospital. Any costs for porters, vehicles, ambulance services, or hospitalization must be covered by the participant.
